Police Constable Booked Under NDPS Act Dismissed in

Jammu, May 26: In a significant development, a police constable who was booked last year under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been dismissed from service in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. This decision was announced by an official on Sunday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Reasi) Mohita Sharma ordered the dismissal of selection grade constable Tariq Hussain Shah. The decision came in light of his prolonged unauthorized absence from duties and alleged involvement in drug trafficking, a police spokesperson stated.

Shah faced charges under sections of the NDPS Act at Jammu’s Bakshi Nagar police station last year. His involvement in such serious criminal activities raised significant concerns about his suitability to serve in the police force.

In a detailed factual report, Senior Superintendent Sharma noted that the charges against Shah, including violations of police rules and regulations, absenteeism, grave misconduct, indiscipline, and negligence, were proven. These violations made him unfit to continue serving in the department.

The report underscored that strict departmental action was necessary to maintain the integrity and discipline of the police force. Shah’s dismissal was deemed essential to uphold the standards expected of law enforcement officers.

The police spokesperson highlighted that the dismissal followed a series of unheeded warnings. Shah did not respond to numerous signals, attendance notices, and show cause notices served upon him, demonstrating a blatant disregard for departmental protocols.

This case serves as a stern reminder of the police department’s zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct and criminal activities within its ranks. The action taken against Shah underscores the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir police to ensure that those entrusted with enforcing the law adhere to it themselves.

The dismissal of Constable Tariq Hussain Shah sends a clear message that any breach of conduct, especially those involving criminal activities, will be met with stringent consequences. This step aims to reinforce public trust in the police force by ensuring that only those who uphold the law with integrity remain in service.
