The individuals, identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir and Ali Mohd Kawa, had been on the run since the late 1980s and 1990s, respectively, in connection with cases registered at Police Station Pattan and Police Station Tangmarg.

According to a media handout issued by the police, the arrests were made following the execution of warrants under Section 512 of the CrPC, which had been pending with the authorities for years. The accused, hailing from different areas within the region, were tracked down and detained by a special police team operating under the supervision of the SDPO Tangmarg.

The successful operation involved the collaborative efforts of law enforcement officials, including the SHOs of Police Stations Tangmarg and Kunzer. Both individuals were presented before the Hon’ble Court of Law following their apprehension, marking a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to uphold justice and combat crime in the community.

The police emphasized their commitment to maintaining law and order, underscoring their resolve to take stringent action against those involved in criminal activities. The arrest of these fugitives serves as a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice by law enforcement agencies, instilling confidence within the community about the efficacy of their efforts in ensuring public safety.

The news of the arrest has garnered attention for its rarity, as the individuals had managed to evade capture for an exceptionally long period.
