Pulwama Police Achieve Major Breakthrough in Fight Against Drug Trafficking
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Pulwama Police have arrested two notorious drug peddlers and recovered 15 kg of poppy straw.
The arrests were made at a Naka checkpoint established by a police party from Police Station Pulwama at Gangoo Pulwama.
During the Naka checking, a truck bearing registration number PB08EQ 8089, driven by Sukhdev Singh, was stopped and searched.
Upon searching, two bags of poppy straw were recovered, leading to the registration of case FIR no 166/2024 and the initiation of an investigation.
During the investigation, accused Sukdev Singh revealed information that led to the arrest of another drug peddler, Mohd Yousuf Gadda.
One bag of poppy straw was recovered from Mohd Yousuf Gadda, bringing the total recovery to 15 kg of poppy straw from both accused persons.
The investigation is ongoing, with more recoveries and arrests expected as the police intensify their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
The Pulwama Police have reaffirmed their commitment to ending the menace of drug addiction, urging community members to come forward with any information about drug peddling in their neighborhoods.
