Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in South kashmir, contraband substances recovered

In Kulgam, the police have made significant strides in combatting the spread of drugs by apprehending two drug peddlers and seizing contraband substances from their possession. The diligent efforts of the police led to the arrest of Gowhar Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Khargund, who was found with 2.3 kilograms of Poppy Straw-like substance during a routine Naka checking at Shampora Crossing by a Police party from Police Station Qazigund.

Additionally, another individual, identified as Mohd Abass Sheikh from Manigam, was intercepted by a police party from Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling at Manigam crossing. Upon search, officers discovered 115 grams of Charas-like substance in his possession. Both accused drug peddlers have been apprehended and are currently in police custody.

Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at Police Station Qazigund, and further investigations are underway to delve deeper into the matter. Community members are urged to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling activities in their neighborhoods, as the police remain committed to eradicating this societal menace.
