One Dead, Two Injured After Bike Plunges into Irrigation Canal in Central Kashmir
Ganderbal: A 25-year-old youth was killed and two others were injured after the motorbike they were riding skidded on the road and plunged into an irrigation canal at Watlar in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal District late Thursday evening.
Officials reported that the accident occurred near the maternity hospital in Watlar, Ganderbal. A Pulsar bike, bearing registration number JK05M-4769, skidded off the road, causing injuries to two individuals and leaving another missing.
Following the incident, a rescue operation was promptly launched by local police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the army, and local residents. The joint efforts led to the retrieval of the missing youth’s body early Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Aadil Manzoor Shah, son of Manzoor Shah, a resident of Nilla Palpora, Patten, Baramulla.
The injured individuals have been identified as 20-year-old Mufasil Reshi, son of Mohd Asadullah Reshi, and 22-year-old Nasir Nabi Bhat, son of Gh Nabi Bhat. Both are residents of Nilla Palpora, Patten.
The injured were initially shifted to PHC Lar for medical attention. Subsequently, they were referred to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment due to the severity of their injuries.
In response to the incident, Lar Police have registered a case under the relevant sections of law and initiated further investigation into the matter.
The tragic accident has cast a pall over the local community, highlighting the importance of road safety and the need for cautious driving on the region’s challenging roads.
