Non-Local Labourer Found Dead In North Kashmir

Srinagar, July 08: A tragic incident has come to light in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district where a non-local labourer ended his life. The unfortunate event occurred on Monday, leaving the local community in shock.

According to an official from the News Agency Kashmir Scroll, the deceased has been identified as a painter hailing from Jaynagra Surjapur in Bihar. At the time of the incident, he was residing in Shalimar Lane, Kanispora, Baramulla. The painter reportedly hanged himself in the bathroom of his current residence.

Upon discovering the body, authorities swiftly took it into custody for medico-legal formalities. The deceased’s identity was confirmed, and necessary procedures were initiated to further investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

The incident has raised concerns about the mental health and well-being of non-local labourers working in the region. Many of these workers live far from their homes, often facing harsh working conditions and isolation, which can take a toll on their mental health.

The local administration has assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted. Proceedings under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) have been initiated. This section pertains to inquiries and report of suicide, unnatural death, or suspicious circumstances.

The tragic event has brought to light the need for better support systems for migrant workers in the area. Ensuring their mental and physical well-being is crucial, especially when they are far from their families and support networks.

Communities and local authorities must work together to provide resources and support for non-local labourers. Addressing mental health issues and creating a supportive environment can help prevent such tragic incidents in the future.

As the investigation continues, the local community mourns the loss of a young life and hopes for measures that can help prevent similar occurrences. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the challenges faced by migrant workers and the importance of comprehensive support systems.
