No power Curtailment in Shia-dominated Areas During Muharram: CE KPDCL

Elaborate Arrangements Made for Muharram in Shia-Dominated Areas

The government has made elaborate arrangements to ensure round-the-clock facilities in Shia-dominated areas during the holy month of Muharram.

The Kashmir Power Distribution Company Limited (KPDCL) has confirmed that there will be no power curtailment in these areas to facilitate mourners.

Chief Engineer (Distribution) Sandeep Seth has directed concerned officials to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in these areas.

Similarly, the Jal Shakti department has made contingency plans for devotees in and around Imambaras, including additional water posts and water tankers for mourners.

In Srinagar district alone, Rs 34.00 lakh has been spent on additional water supply arrangements in Shia-dominated areas.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had earlier directed officials to ensure improved road connectivity, cleanliness, sanitation, security, smooth traffic management, and medical facilities at prominent religious places.

The government’s efforts aim to provide hassle-free facilities to the mourners during the month of Muharram.

The arrangements demonstrate the government’s commitment to ensuring the comfort and well-being of the people during this significant religious period.
