Man Killed Over Land Dispute in JK; Seven Detained
In a tragic incident in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, a man lost his life in a clash between two groups over a land dispute. The confrontation occurred in the Greater Kailash area on Tuesday, leading to the death of Avtar Singh, a resident of Kalu Chak. The dispute escalated into violence, resulting in injuries to several individuals involved.
Following the incident, seven people have been detained by the authorities in connection with the clash. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vinod Kumar confirmed the detention of these individuals and highlighted the seriousness of the situation. Additionally, action has been taken against the in-charge of the Greater Kailash police post and the station house officer for their failure to maintain law and order during the altercation.
The clash, rooted in a land dispute, underscored the tensions and conflicts that can arise over property matters. The unfortunate outcome of the confrontation, with Avtar Singh succumbing to his injuries at the Government Medical College Hospital, serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of such disputes turning violent.

In a separate development, hardcore criminal Tajinder Singh, also known as “Happy,” has been booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) due to his repeated involvement in criminal activities posing a threat to peace and order. Singh’s history of criminal behavior and continued engagement in unlawful activities led to his detention under the PSA on the orders of the Jammu district magistrate.
Moreover, another individual, Raman Kumar from Arnia, has been detained by the police after being found engaging in criminal activities following his recent release from jail. These actions by law enforcement authorities underscore their commitment to maintaining public safety and addressing threats posed by individuals involved in criminal behavior.
