Tragedy Strikes in Kupwara: Passenger Dies, Another Injured in Bus Accident

A tragic incident occurred in the Qaziabad area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday, resulting in the death of a passenger and injuries to another.

The accident involved a private bus, which was overloaded with passengers, mostly laborers, who had occupied the roof of the bus.

According to local sources, while deboarding from the bus near Palapora, two passengers slipped and fell off, receiving critical injuries.

The victims have been identified as Sahil Ahmad Teli (25) and Ubaid Bashir Bhat (23), both laborers.

Sahil Ahmed was referred to SKIMS, where he succumbed to his injuries, while Ubaid Bashir Bhat is being treated for his injuries.

A police official confirmed that both victims are laborers and that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law.

The incident highlights the dangers of overloading and the importance of adhering to safety protocols to prevent such tragedies.

The authorities must take necessary measures to ensure that buses operate safely and that passengers are not put at risk due to overloading or other safety violations.
