JE arrested by ACB for accepting bribe in North Kashmir

Arshid Marazi, a Junior Engineer (JE) employed in the Rural Development block of Qaziabad in Kupwara district, found himself in legal trouble after being arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). The arrest was made in Handwara following allegations of Marazi accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 5000. The complaint that led to Marazi’s arrest was lodged against him, prompting the ACB to initiate an investigation into the matter.

According to sources cited by the news agency Kashmir Scroll, the ACB orchestrated a trap operation to apprehend Marazi in the act of accepting the bribe. Their efforts proved successful as Marazi was caught red-handed during the exchange. Subsequently, he was taken into custody by the ACB team. The bribe money, amounting to Rs 5000, was also seized from Marazi’s possession, serving as evidence against him in the legal proceedings.

The arrest of Marazi highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating corruption within government institutions. The swift action taken by the ACB underscores the seriousness with which such allegations are addressed, reflecting a commitment to uphold transparency and integrity in public service. It serves as a warning to others engaging in similar unlawful activities that they will be held accountable for their actions.

As the investigation progresses, more details regarding the circumstances surrounding Marazi’s alleged acceptance of the bribe are expected to emerge. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of accountability and ethical conduct among public officials. It also underscores the role of vigilant citizens in reporting instances of corruption, thereby contributing to the maintenance of a fair and just society.

In the aftermath of Marazi’s arrest, there may be implications for the functioning of the Rural Development block in Qaziabad. Authorities may undertake measures to ensure that the duties and responsibilities formerly held by Marazi are carried out effectively and in accordance with established regulations. Additionally, there may be a renewed emphasis on anti-corruption measures and ethical training within the department to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
