Jammu Srinagar National Highway important update

Traffic Update: Jammu-Srinagar National Highway

Repair work at Dalwas caused a 50-minute blockage on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) from March 15, 1700 hrs to March 16, 1700 hrs. Additionally, slow movement was reported on NH-44 due to breakdowns and single-lane traffic at various points, including Dalwas, Panthyal, Nachlana, and Shalgarhi. Moreover, poor road conditions persisted between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel, urging caution among travelers.

Travel Advisory:Travelers are advised to undertake journeys on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime hours, with a caution against night travel due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal. Load carrier operators are urged to adhere to load advisories issued by the Traffic Police Headquarters, especially considering the single-lane traffic and poor road conditions at Dalwas.

Vehicle Safety and Traffic Plan for 17-03-2024:On March 17, subject to fair weather, LMVS Passenger/Private Cars will be allowed from both directions on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW. However, HMVs will be permitted from NAVYUG Tunnel towards Jammu after a thorough assessment of road conditions.

Cut-off Timings for LMVS:Cut-off timings for LMVS vehicles are set from Nagrota (Jammu), Jakheni (Udhampur), and NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) to ensure smooth traffic flow. No vehicles will be allowed after the cut-off timings.

Special Note for Security Forces:Security Forces are advised not to deviate from the traffic plan to avoid congestion on the narrow carriage way between Nashree and Banihal. Tomorrow, convoy movement may occur from Srinagar towards Jammu, pending confirmation of NHW status from TCU Ramban.

Road Conditions and Blockages:Several key roads including Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road, Mughal Road, Bhaderwah-Chamba Road, and Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244 remain blocked due to snow accumulation, necessitating caution and alternative route planning.

Travel Advisory:People planning journeys on NH-44 are advised to confirm road status from Traffic Control Units in Jammu, Srinagar, Ramban, Udhampur, and PCR Kishtwar for the latest updates.
