“India will be among Top Three Economies in my third Term as PM: PM Modi in Surat

Surat, Dec 17 (WD):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Surat Diamond Bourse in Gujarat, confidently asserting that India would attain a position among the world’s top three economies during his third term. The Surat Diamond Bourse, a global hub for diamond and jewelry businesses, showcased India’s design capabilities, materials, and concepts, according to PM Modi. Situated in Khajod village, the monumental building is hailed as the world’s largest office complex, covering over 67 lakh sq feet.

The Surat Diamond Bourse stands as a testament to Indian innovation and strength, with its symbolic representation of New India’s resolve. PM Modi applauded the prowess of Indian designers, materials, and concepts exhibited within the facility. Notably, the building houses nearly 4,500 diamond trading offices and includes a ‘Customs Clearance House’ for import and export, along with a jewelry mall for retail business.

This architectural marvel is part of the Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City, envisioned to be a global center for trading both rough and polished diamonds, as well as jewelry. The structure, built on 35.54 acres within DREAM City, comprises nine towers, each boasting 15 floors and offering office spaces ranging from 300 sq ft to 1 lakh sq ft.

In February 2015, the foundation for the Surat Diamond Bourse and DREAM City project was laid by former Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel. The ambitious project has now become a reality, marking a significant stride for India in the international diamond and jewelry market. Offices within the SDB were allocated to diamond traders, including those based in Mumbai, through an auction conducted by the management. With its cutting-edge facilities and global aspirations, the Surat Diamond Bourse emerges as a pivotal player in shaping India’s economic landscape.
