IMPORTANT TRAFFIC UPDATE:JAMMU/SRINAGAR
TRAFFIC UPDATE: J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) experienced disruptions due to a crack at Hingni, Banihal, resulting in a four-hour blockage from 20-04-2024, 1700 hrs. to 21-04-2024, 1700 hrs. Additionally, slow movement was observed along NH-44 due to various factors such as breakdowns, nomadic flocks, and single-lane traffic at several points between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel. It’s advisable for passengers and LMVS operators to undertake journeys during the daytime to avoid potential risks, especially shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal during night hours.
Load carrier operators, especially those transporting perishable/live stock, are urged to adhere to advisories issued by Traffic Police Headquarters regarding vehicle loading due to single-lane traffic and poor road conditions at specific locations like Dalwas, Panthyal, Nachlana, and Shalgarhi on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Overloading of HMVs is discouraged, and vehicle owners are reminded to ensure their vehicles are fit for travel and carry sufficient fuel. Furthermore, HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres are permitted to ply through Dhar road.
For the traffic plan on 22-04-2024, LMVS (Passenger/Private Cars) will be allowed from both directions on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW, with cut-off timings imposed for LMVS due to the single road at various points. Security Forces (SFs) are requested to adhere to the traffic plan to mitigate potential congestion issues. The Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244 remains closed, while the SSG Road will allow one-way traffic from Kargil to Srinagar, with anti-skid chains recommended for motorists.
Mughal Road and Bhaderwah-Chamba Road remain closed due to snow accumulation. It’s crucial for travelers to verify the road status from Traffic Control Units before embarking on their journey.
