Highway Alert: Jammu to Srinagar Traffic Update

Traffic authorities in Srinagar have implemented one-way traffic regulations on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway due to challenging road conditions and unfavorable weather. This decision follows the previous day’s allowance of one-way traffic from Srinagar to Jammu.

Today, traffic is permitted solely from Jammu to Srinagar. Initially, only light motor vehicles are permitted on the highway until 1 p.m., after which heavy motor vehicles will also be allowed entry into Srinagar.

Movement in the opposite direction on the highway is strictly prohibited to ensure smooth flow and safety for commuters.

Officials emphasize the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to prevent congestion and ensure efficient travel for all.

The Srinagar-Jammu highway serves as a critical artery for essential supplies to the landlocked Valley. Items such as petroleum products, medicines, vegetables, pulses, food grains, mutton, and poultry products are transported to Kashmir via this route.

Meanwhile, several other key routes, including Srinagar-Leh, Mughal Road, Sinthan-Kishtwar road, Bandipora-Gurez, and Kupwara-Tangdhar, remain closed due to heavy snow accumulation, hampering traffic movement.
