Grand Mufti Announces New Sadq-e-Fitr Amount for Holy Month

Grand Mufti Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul Islam Farooqi, has declared the Sadq-e-Fitr (Zakaat-ul-Fitr) rate for this upcoming Ramadan at Rs 70 per person. This announcement underscores the importance of charity during the holy month and aims to ensure the participation of all Muslims in fulfilling this religious obligation.

According to Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, the decision to set the Sadq-e-Fitr amount at Rs 70 per person was made after consulting scholars from various schools of thought. This consensus reflects a collaborative effort to establish a uniform standard for this charitable practice, ensuring inclusivity and fairness within the community.

Emphasizing the significance of Sadq-e-Fitr, the Grand Mufti highlighted that the obligation extends to all members of the Muslim community, including infants. This underscores the universal nature of charity and its role in fostering compassion and solidarity among believers during Ramadan.

Sadq-e-Fitr, distinct from Zakat, is an additional form of charity specifically mandated for Ramadan. It serves as a means of purification for those who fast, ensuring that they contribute to the welfare of the less fortunate in their community.

As Muslims prepare to observe Ramadan, the announcement of the Sadq-e-Fitr rate serves as a reminder of the importance of generosity and compassion during this sacred time. By adhering to this prescribed amount, believers can fulfill their religious duties and contribute to the well-being of others in need.
