FFRC Summons Private School Principal For Demanding 85000 Admission Fee

Srinagar: The Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC) has taken a stern stance against the alleged non-compliance of its orders by a private school in Naseem Bagh, Srinagar. The committee issued a directive for the principal of Kashmir Haward School to appear before it following the circulation of a video on social media levelling serious allegations against the school management.

The allegations suggest that the school demanded an exorbitant admission fee of Rs 85,000, a practice prohibited by statute. FFRC emphasized that any fee charged in contravention of its directives is strictly prohibited by law, and no educational institution is authorized to impose fees without prior approval.

Moreover, FFRC revealed that the school failed to submit the necessary documentation for the regulation of fee structures for the academic session 2024-25 within the prescribed timeline. This failure to comply with regulatory requirements has raised concerns about the school’s adherence to legal statutes.

Consequently, the FFRC has directed the Chairman or Principal of Kashmir Haward School to appear before its office in Hyderpora on April 3, 2024, at 12:20 pm. The directive requires the school representative to provide factual details and information regarding the matter for thorough examination.

FFRC indicated potential actions in response to the allegations, including referring the matter to an investigative agency, suspending fee collection from students, and recommending to the government the suspension of the school’s recognition. This development underscores the committee’s commitment to ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and protecting the rights of students and parents.
