Ensure Availability of Sacrificial Animals on Reasonable prices, DCK

Srinagar, June 07 (WD): In preparation for Eid ul Adha, the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, convened a meeting to review arrangements by District Administrations and concerned departments. The focus was on ensuring the availability of essentials and sacrificial animals in the market.

The meeting, which included Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and officers from various departments such as Health Services, Traffic, SMC, PHE, and Animal Husbandry, emphasized the need for extensive arrangements of basic amenities. Div Com directed officers to ensure regular electricity and drinking water supply during the religious festival.

To facilitate the availability of sacrificial animals, particularly sheep, Div Com instructed that 104 sale spots be established by the Sheep Husbandry Department. He stressed the importance of setting and enforcing reasonable prices for these animals to prevent exorbitant charges.

Div Com also advised the public to keep the hides of sacrificial animals at home for door-to-door collection by SMC and other municipal bodies to avoid environmental pollution and drain blockages. This measure aims at ensuring proper disposal of animal hides.

Additionally, the Animal Husbandry Department was directed to ensure an abundance of poultry birds in the market. To prevent overcharging by traders, Div Com ordered all Deputy Commissioners to form joint market checking teams to enforce reasonable pricing of essentials and other commodities.

For prominent religious places, including Masjids and Shrines, Div Com called for filling potholes on approach roads, setting up medical camps, stationing fire tenders, and providing water tankers. He also emphasized the need for sanitation, cleanliness, and toilet facilities at these sites.

The Waqf Board was instructed to conduct a cleanliness drive to clean water storage tanks at religious places and to add chlorine tablets to ensure the provision of clean water. This is part of the effort to ensure the health and safety of devotees during the festival.

To facilitate transportation, Div Com directed the availability of SRTC and Srinagar Smart City buses on different routes to Dargah Hazratbal Shrine. Waqf Board officials were also asked to publicize prayer timings in advance for the convenience of the public.
