Enrollment in Jammu and Kashmir Government Schools Sees Significant Increase of 1.2 Lakh Students

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have announced a significant increase in student enrollment in government-run schools. According to officials, the current academic year has seen an increase of over 1.2 lakh students in government schools.

In the academic year 2021-22, the total enrollment in government schools was approximately 12 lakhs. However, with the launch of the “AAO School Chalein Campaign” in 2022-23, there was a notable increase of 17% in enrollment.

The total enrollment in government schools for the year 2022-23 was around 14.18 lakhs. This upward trend has continued in the current academic year, 2023-24, with a substantial increase in pre-primary category enrollments.

In 2021, the pre-primary category had 0.71 lakhs enrolled, which increased to 1.57 lakhs in 2022-23, and further to 1.80 lakhs in 2023-24. It’s worth noting that the enrollment data for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) and Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) has been excluded from the total government school enrollment figures for 2023-24.

This exclusion has resulted in a total enrollment of 13.84 lakhs in government schools. Despite this, the proactive enrollment drives and campaigns have successfully increased enrollment in government schools.

In the current academic year, 64,500 children have been admitted in Jammu division, and 55,869 children in Kashmir division. This brings the total enrollment in government schools to an impressive addition of 1.20 lakh children.

This significant increase in enrollment reflects a growing preference for government schools among students. The officials are thrilled with the progress and attribute it to the successful enrollment drives and campaigns.

The overall enrollment in government schools has reached an impressive level, indicating a positive trend in the education sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
