Election Commission to Announce Assembly Election Schedule Today
The Election Commission of India is set to announce the schedule for upcoming assembly elections on Friday afternoon.
An invitation to the media for a press conference at 3 pm has been sent out by the EC, although it doesn’t specify which states the election schedule will be announced for.
The terms of the legislative assemblies of Haryana and Maharashtra are set to end on November 3 and November 26, respectively, making them likely candidates for the upcoming elections.
Additionally, the poll panel plans to hold assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir before September 30, as per the deadline set by the Supreme Court.
The Election Commission has recently visited Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana to assess the poll preparedness in these states.
However, the EC is yet to visit Maharashtra, which is also expected to go to polls soon.
The announcement of the election schedule is a significant step towards conducting fair and timely elections in these states.
The exact details of the election schedule, including the dates of polling and counting, will be revealed by the EC during the press conference on Friday afternoon.
