Elderly Woman Dies In GMC Anantanaag, Family Alleges Negligence
Scuffle Erupts at GMC Anantnag Over Alleged Negligence
A scuffle broke out at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag after an elderly woman died due to alleged negligence by doctors.
The situation escalated into a heated argument between attendants, doctors, and security guards, leading to a physical altercation.
Police intervened and brought the situation under control, but the doctors threatened to go on strike shortly after the incident.
Attendants alleged that the patient was shifted to a common ward instead of being kept on oxygen support, leading to her death.
The patient, identified as Hajira, a resident of Larkipora Anantnag, was around 90 years old and had been admitted to the hospital three days ago.
Principal of GMC Anantnag, Dr Rukhsana Najeeb, assured that an inquiry will be conducted to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
Dr Najeeb expressed concern that doctors are often made soft targets in such situations and highlighted that the hospital is overburdened.
The incident has sparked a massive protest by attendants, demanding action against the doctors responsible for the patient’s death.
