Caught in a Trap: Kashmiri’s Journey from Job Promise to War!
Job Fraud’: Kashmiri Conned into Fighting for Russian Army against Ukraine
Srinagar, Feb 26 WD: A students’ body from Jammu and Kashmir has raised concerns over a Kashmiri allegedly deceived into fighting for the Russian army against Ukraine, under false promises of employment, resulting in injuries during combat. They urge the central government to intervene.
The association reports another Kashmiri missing in Russia.
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has written to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, requesting repatriation for the two identified individuals, Azad Yusuf Kumar from Pulwama’s Awantipora and Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh from Kupwara’s Tangdhar. Independent confirmation is pending.
A spokesman for the association reveals Azad’s victimization in a fraudulent recruitment scheme, forcibly deployed with the Russian army without consent.
According to Azad’s family, he was enticed by a YouTuber promising a job in Dubai.
Azad’s journey started with a YouTube channel named ‘Baba Vlogs’, operated by consultant Faisal Khan in Dubai. Offering job opportunities in cooking and cleaning, Azad traveled from Mumbai to Sharjah, provided tickets to Moscow, where he and his companions were coerced to sign agreements in Russian, despite language barriers. Subsequently, they underwent training and were deployed to the Ukraine border.
Azad, now injured, is stranded at the Russia-Ukraine border. His family provided documentation of the deception.
Azad’s family pleads for his safe return, distraught by the deception.
Additionally, Zahoor, from Kupwara, is reported missing in Russia. His sudden disappearance warrants urgent attention from the external affairs ministry.
The ministry urges Indians to avoid involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, acknowledging reports of some being duped into “support jobs” with the Russian army. They seek early release for Indian nationals engaged in such roles.
Reports indicate individuals from Karnataka and Telangana also fell victim to recruitment by the Russian army. – (The Telegraph)
