Brief Exchange of Fire between Militants & Security Forces,Search Operation Launched

May 31 (WD) – A brief exchange of fire took place between militants and security forces yesterday in the Marha Buffliaz area of Poonch district. The incident has prompted a large-scale search operation by the authorities.

Officials told to Wattan daily that late Thursday night, security forces received a specific input regarding the presence of militants in the area. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a joint search operation was launched by the police and army in the general area of Marha Buffliaz near DKG.

As the search party intensified their efforts, the militants, who were hiding in the area, opened fire on the security forces. This led to a brief but intense gunfight, according to officials.

Following the brief exchange of fire, the militants managed to flee the scene, taking advantage of the darkness that had enveloped the area. The sudden escape of the militants has raised concerns about their potential regrouping and planning of further activities.

Until the time this report was filed, no loss of life or injuries had been reported from either side. The brief gunfight, however, has heightened tensions in the region, prompting security forces to remain on high alert.

In response to the militants’ escape, a massive search operation has been launched. The security forces are combing through the Marha Buffliaz area and surrounding regions to track down the fleeing militants and prevent any further incidents.

Local residents have been advised to remain indoors and report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately. The ongoing operation aims to ensure the safety and security of the civilian population while apprehending the militants.

More details about the incident and the progress of the search operation are expected to follow as the security forces continue their efforts to locate and neutralize the threat posed by the militants.
