Mobile Internet Suspended in Poonch and Rajouri:
Mobile internet services were abruptly suspended in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Rajouri districts following a massive search operation by security forces. The operation aims to track down terrorists responsible for the recent ambush on two Army vehicles, resulting in the tragic death of five soldiers.
Rumors and Resentment Prompt Precautionary Measures:
The suspension of mobile internet services is seen as a precautionary measure to curb potential rumor-mongering and prevent miscreants from creating law and order issues. This move comes amidst widespread resentment among the public following videos circulating, allegedly depicting the torture of suspects picked up by the Army. The mysterious deaths of three individuals after being detained for questioning have heightened tensions.
Search Operation and Ambush Details:
Heavily-armed terrorists targeted an army gypsy and a truck in Poonch, killing five soldiers and injuring two others. Following the attack, a search operation was launched in densely forested areas, including Thanamandi in Rajouri. The terrorists reportedly mutilated the bodies of at least two soldiers and seized their weapons.
Mysterious Deaths Amidst Ongoing Investigation:
Three individuals, initially detained for questioning in connection with the attack, died under mysterious circumstances. The deceased were identified as Safeer Hussain, Mohd Showket, and Shabir Ahmad from Topa Peer village in Bufliaz. Their bodies have been handed over to their families for last rites as investigations into the cause of their deaths continue.
