Kidnapping Drama Unfolds in J&K: Police Rescue BJP Vice President Varinder Sharma, 7 Accused Apprehended

Kathua, Feb 2: In a startling turn of events, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president Varinder Sharma was abducted in a manner reminiscent of a movie scene from a local tea stall. The incident sent shockwaves through the Rajbagh area of Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, last evening.

Varinder Sharma, serving as the BJP District Vice President, fell prey to the clutches of seven kidnappers who forcefully seized him at gunpoint, leading to an uncertain fate. However, in a display of swift action, the J&K Police successfully rescued the beleaguered BJP leader from Saktachak, Kathua, following an hour-long pursuit. Subsequently, all seven abductors were apprehended.

According to Vipul Sharma, cousin of Varinder Sharma, the abduction was accompanied by a series of atrocities, including physical assault, robbery of cash and gold, as well as gunfire and stabbing. “They demanded money from him and threatened him by firing at him. He was abducted and then stabbed multiple times by kidnappers. Right now, he is unconscious and is undergoing treatment in the hospital,” he added.

Authorities revealed that Varinder Sharma was forcibly taken from a tea stall by the seven suspects, igniting a frantic chase that culminated in the BJP vice president’s rescue, albeit with injuries.

The police operation resulted in the confiscation of firearms and other weapons wielded by the perpetrators during the crime. Additionally, officials commended the valor of the police team, which faced resistance during the apprehension of the culprits in the Saktachak area of Rajbagh in Kathua.
