Administrative Council approves 50% hike in honorarium of Rehbar-e-Khel teachers

Jammu, Feb 21 (WD): The Administrative Council (AC), chaired by Lieutenant Governor Sh. Manoj Sinha, has granted approval for a significant 50% increase in honorarium for 2417 Rehbar-e-Khel(s) (ReK) physical education teachers within the Youth Services and Sports Department.

Key officials including Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor; Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; and Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, were present at the meeting where this decision was made.

Established in 2021, a High Powered Committee under the Chief Secretary was tasked with assessing and recommending appropriate adjustments in honorarium for Rehbar-e-Khel teachers. Their recommendation for a 50% raise has been accepted by the Administrative Council.

The hike in honorarium is aimed at not only recognizing the valuable contributions of ReK teachers but also at incentivizing them to further promote and popularize sports activities within schools across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

By providing increased financial support, the government hopes to motivate Rehbar-e-Khel teachers to continue their efforts in fostering a culture of sports and physical activity among students, ultimately contributing to their holistic development.

This decision reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the status and welfare of teachers working in various capacities, particularly those dedicated to promoting sports and physical education.

The acknowledgment of the vital role played by ReK teachers underscores the importance placed on sports education as a means to nurture well-rounded individuals and foster a healthy and active lifestyle among youth.

With this significant increase in honorarium, the government aims to create a more conducive environment for the growth and development of sports at the grassroots level, ultimately benefiting the entire community.
