ACB Traps & Arrets Assistant Engineer for taking and accepting bribe at Budgam

Budgam, Dec 21 (WD News):

On December 21, 2023, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) took action in Budgam district, central Kashmir, by trapping and arresting Tanveer Ahmad, an Assistant Engineer at the BDO office in Surasyar Chadoora. The arrest was made on charges of accepting a bribe. According to a top official speaking to Wattan Daily Reporter, Ahmad was apprehended red-handed during the act, and a substantial amount of money was found during a pocket search.

The sequence of events unfolded with the receipt of a complaint, leading to the registration of an FIR under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at the Police Station ACB central Kashmir. Subsequently, a specialized trap team was assembled to address the situation. This team executed a successful operation, capturing Tanveer Ahmad in the act of accepting a bribe. The recovery of the bribe money was carried out in the presence of independent witnesses.

Following his apprehension, Tanveer Ahmad was taken to a police station, where further investigation into the matter is currently underway. The ACB’s efforts signify a commitment to combatting corruption, with legal proceedings initiated against the accused Assistant Engineer.(WD News)
