ACB Traps, Arrests SHO Pantha Chowk For Taking Bribe in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 24: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday apprehended and arrested Inspector Azim Iqbal, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, for demanding bribe.

A top officer informed the Srinagar-based news agency Kashmir Dot Com that the ACB acted on a complaint and set a trap to catch Inspector Azim Iqbal in the act of accepting the bribe.

Upon receiving the complaint, an FIR was registered under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at the Police Station ACB Central Kashmir, and an investigation was promptly initiated.

To facilitate the operation, a specialized trap team was constituted. This team laid a successful trap, catching Inspector Azim Iqbal red-handed while accepting the bribe.

The bribe money was recovered in the presence of independent witnesses, ensuring the integrity of the operation and providing solid evidence against the accused.

The arrest of Inspector Iqbal highlights the ACB’s commitment to eradicating corruption, sending a strong message to public officials about the consequences of engaging in such activities.

Further investigations are underway to uncover more details about the case and identify any possible accomplices involved in the corrupt practices.
