Mansoor Ahmad, a Forester, and Mushtaq Ahmad, an official of the forest Range office in Watergam, Baramulla, were trapped and arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹12,500 for processing and issuing a Transit Permit. The ACB received a complaint from a resident of Rafiabad District in Baramulla, stating that he needed transit permits from the Range Office in Watergam to transport timber from Baramulla to Srinagar. The complainant alleged that Forester Mansoor Ahmad demanded a bribe of ₹3,500 for one issued permit and additional payments for pending permits.

Upon discreet verification of the complaint, it was found that the forester, in collusion with other officials of the Range office in Watergam, was involved in demanding bribes for processing and issuing Transit Permits. Subsequently, a case under FIR No. 01/2024 was registered at PS ACB Baramulla against accused public servant Mansoor Ahmad and other officials under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and section 120-B IPC. An investigation was initiated, leading to the formation of a trap team.

The trap team successfully caught Mansoor Ahmad and another official red-handed while they were demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹12,500 from the complainant. Both accused public servants were arrested on the spot, and the bribe money was recovered. The involvement of other officials in the bribery case is also under scrutiny, and further investigation is ongoing to uncover any additional details related to the corruption scandal at the Range Office in Watergam.
