ACB Arrests Patwari for Accepting Bribe in
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Patwari, Mohammad Ayoub Hajam, in Anantnag for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.
The arrest was made after the ACB received a complaint alleging that Hajam was demanding a bribe to issue revenue records.
According to the complaint, Hajam was demanding Rs 9,000 to issue a certified copy of an online mutation, but the amount was later negotiated to Rs 5,000.
The complainant chose not to pay the bribe and instead approached the ACB to take legal action against Hajam.
A discreet verification was conducted, which confirmed the demand, and a case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
A trap team was constituted, and Hajam was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant.
The bribe amount was recovered from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses.
The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken as per the law.
