25 New Smart City Buses Set to Transform Public Transport in Srinagar From
Srinagar is set to witness a significant enhancement in its public transport system with the introduction of 25 new smart city buses by the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL). In preparation for their upcoming operation, an inspection and trial run of these modern buses were conducted in the city, showcasing their advanced features and capabilities.
Anuj Malhotra, the General Manager of Planning & Urban Development at Smart City Srinagar, provided insights into the new buses, highlighting their state-of-the-art design and functionality. These buses, with a length exceeding 12 meters, represent a notable upgrade from the previously acquired 9-meter buses. They boast a seating capacity of 35 passengers along with additional standing room, promising increased comfort and convenience for commuters.
The introduction of these new buses marks a significant expansion of the city’s smart city bus fleet. With the addition of 25 buses, the total count now stands at 100 smart city buses, including the existing fleet of 75. This expansion underscores the commitment of authorities towards enhancing public transportation services in Srinagar.
During the inspection and trial run, key officials such as RTO Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, and Anuj Malhotra, among others, supervised the process. Their presence reflects the importance attached to ensuring the seamless integration and operation of these modern vehicles within the city’s transport network.
