11-year-old Boy Drowns To Death in Central Kashmir

Ganderbal, June 02: In a heart-wrenching incident, an 11-year-old boy tragically lost his life after drowning in an irrigation canal in the Thune area of Kangan, located in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The incident has left the local community in deep shock and mourning.

Official Confirmation: The unfortunate event was confirmed by an official to the news agency Kashmir News Observer. According to the official, the boy accidentally slipped into the irrigation canal, which led to the initiation of an immediate rescue operation in a desperate attempt to save his life.

Rescue Operation Launched: Local authorities and residents promptly launched a rescue operation upon learning of the boy’s fall. Despite their best efforts, the rescue team faced significant challenges due to the strong currents and depth of the canal.

Medical Response: Once retrieved from the water, the boy was rushed to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan. Medical personnel at the hospital did their utmost to revive him. However, despite their valiant efforts, he was pronounced dead on arrival, marking a tragic end to the rescue attempt.
