In a disturbing incident in Daspalla area of Nayagarh district, Odisha, a young man identified as Sushanta opened fire at his own mother, Duita Pradhan, after she refused to give him money for alcohol. The incident occurred in Kalasakhamana village under Banigochha Police Station limits.

According to reports, Sushanta demanded money from his mother to buy alcohol, and upon her refusal, he became enraged. He retrieved a country pistol from inside the house and shot at his mother, causing a bullet injury to her leg. The victim fainted at the scene, but neighbors intervened and rushed her to the Community Health Centre in Daspalla. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later transferred to the district headquarters hospital and then to Bhubaneswar for further treatment.

The accused fled the scene after the shooting, but Banigochha Police acted swiftly, seizing the weapon and detaining Sushanta for further questioning. The investigation into this shocking incident is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full details surrounding this tragic event.
