SC Upholds NEET-UG 2024 Exam, Finds No Systematic Breach

The Supreme Court has released its detailed reasons for not canceling the NEET-UG 2024 examination, despite concerns of paper leaks.

The court stated that there was no systematic breach of the exam’s sanctity, and therefore, no need to cancel it.

A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra issued a slew of directions to improve the examination system.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) was criticized for its flip-flop approach, which does not serve the interest of students.

The court expanded the remit of the Centre-appointed panel headed by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan to review the NTA’s functioning and recommend exam reforms.

The panel has been asked to submit its report by September 30, focusing on measures to rectify deficiencies in the examination system.

The court suggested that the Radhakrishnan panel consider framing standard operating procedures for adopting technological advancements to strengthen the examination system.

The Supreme Court’s decision brings closure to the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG 2024 examination, which was marred by allegations of paper leaks, fraud, and impersonation.
