Rajouri-Poonch Ambush Fallout: Defence Minister & Army Chief on Ground to Assess Situation

Poonch, Dec 27 (WD):

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took a proactive stance by heading to Jammu to assess the ongoing situation in the Rajouri-Poonch region. The visit, occurring on December 27, was prompted by a recent anti-terror operation and the unfortunate ambush in Dera ki Gali, Rajouri district, which resulted in the loss of four soldiers. Rajnath Singh, accompanied by Army Chief General Manoj Pande, arrived in Jammu in the morning and was warmly received by Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.

Without delay, Singh, Pande, and other high-ranking officials proceeded from Jammu to Rajouri to gain firsthand insights into the security scenario and the progress of the ongoing anti-terror operation. This move underscores the government’s commitment to swiftly respond to security challenges and demonstrates a hands-on approach by top military and political figures. The collaborative effort between the Defence Minister, Army Chief, and local authorities signals a coordinated response to address the evolving situation in the region.

The Wattan Daily reported that the visit aimed to not only evaluate the current circumstances but also to express solidarity with the armed forces and reassure the local population. The presence of such key figures on the ground signifies a strategic effort to understand the intricacies of the security challenges in the Rajouri-Poonch region and to ensure that decisive actions are taken to safeguard national interests-(WD)
