NEET-PG Exam Likely In First Week Of July; No National Exit Test This Year
New Delhi, Jan 06 (WD):
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG) examination is anticipated to occur in the first week of July, with counseling following in early August, according to sources on January 6, 2024. In a departure from previous plans, it has been confirmed that the National Exit Test (NExT) will not be conducted this year.
Insiders revealed, “The NEET-PG examination is likely to be held in the first week of July. The counseling is likely to begin in the first week of August.” These updates align with the recently-notified “Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023,” replacing the 2018 amendment. The existing NEET-PG examination will persist until the proposed NExT becomes operational for postgraduate admission purposes.
NEET-PG serves as an eligibility-cum-ranking examination and is the designated single entrance test for admission to MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019. The changes in scheduling and the exclusion of NExT for the current year mark significant developments in the medical education landscape in India.
