Crossing Borders for Love: Mehvish and Rehman’s Story

A 25-year-old Pakistani woman, Mehvish, has traveled from Islamabad to Rajasthan in a heartwarming cross-border love story. She crossed the international border last week to join her husband, Rehman, whom she met on social media.

Mehvish and Rehman’s love story began after her first marriage in 2018 ended in divorce. She befriended Rehman, who was working in Kuwait, on social media, and they fell in love.

The couple got married via video conference on March 16, 2022, and later had a formal in-person ceremony during Mehvish’s Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca in 2023.

Mehvish has two sons, aged 12 and 7, from her previous marriage. She traveled from Islamabad to Lahore and crossed into India through the Wagah border on July 25.

She obtained a 45-day tourist visa after thorough document checks by both Pakistani and Indian authorities. Mehvish was received by Rehman’s family and traveled to Pithisar village in Rajasthan’s Churu district.

This is not the first cross-border love story between India and Pakistan. There have been several instances of men and women traveling across the border to be with their loved ones.

Mehvish’s story adds to the list of such episodes, including Seema Haider, Anju, and Mulayam Singh Yadav, who have made significant journeys to be with their lovers.

Mehvish and Rehman’s love story is a testament to the power of love and technology in bridging distances and borders.
