Aadhaar Card Updates: UIDAI Implements New Rules and Forms
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently introduced updated rules for Aadhaar card modifications and enrollments. The changes include the issuance of new forms, simplifying the process for both online and offline updates of information.
Under the revised guidelines, individuals, including both Indian residents and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), must now use the newly introduced forms for Aadhaar updates. The updated rules particularly facilitate the modification of demographic details, such as names and addresses, with two convenient methods available: through the official UIDAI website or by visiting an enrollment center in person.
UIDAI’s latest regulations offer a seamless approach for Aadhaar cardholders to update information through both online and offline modes. This departure from the previous system allows users to conveniently update mobile numbers and addresses online, with the potential for future online updates of mobile numbers.
A significant change is the introduction of Form 1, replacing the previous form for Aadhaar enrollment and updates for residents aged 18 years and above, including NRIs. This single form now serves the dual purpose of enrollment and updates for this category. NRIs with foreign addresses will use Form 2, while those with Indian addresses and aged between 5 and 18 years will utilize Form 3. Form 4 is designated for children of NRIs with foreign addresses, and additional forms (5, 6, 7, 8, and 9) cater to various categories, streamlining the process for different demographics.
