NEET PG 2024 Postponed! New Date Set for July 7, 2024
NEET PG 2024 Faces One-Year Delay, New Date Set for July 7, 2024
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced a significant shift in the schedule for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024. Originally slated for March 3, the exam will now take place on July 7, 2024, with the eligibility cut-off extended to August 15, 2024, according to the latest official notice from NBEMS. This alteration comes in response to a letter from the National Medical Commission (NMC) dated January 3, 2024.
Concurrently, the National exit test (NeXT), a nationwide medical examination, is grappling with a one-year delay, pushing its expected launch to 2025 from the initially proposed 2023. The ongoing NEET PG exam will persist until the NExT becomes operational for postgraduate admissions, aligning with revised regulations replacing the Postgraduate Medical Education (Amendment) Regulations, 2018.
Moreover, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has rolled out the “Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023,” mandating online counseling rounds for each seat by state or central counseling authorities.
In a noteworthy development, the NMC has expanded its repertoire by introducing post-doctoral fellowship courses in medical colleges under its regulations. This initiative aims to foster research and elevate clinical skills among medical professionals.
The NEET-PG continues to hold paramount importance as the primary eligibility and ranking test. It stands as the exclusive entrance examination for securing admission to various MD/MS and PG diploma courses, as outlined in the National Medical Commission Act of 2019.
