DSEJ Extends Winter Vacation for Schools in Jammu

Jammu, Jan 04 (WD):

The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has decided to extend winter vacations for schools in the summer zone of Jammu division until January 6 due to ongoing harsh weather conditions. The extension, initially set to conclude on January 4, applies to both government and private recognized schools, with strict warnings against violations.

Starting on December 19, the winter break, typically spanning two weeks in December–January, aims to provide students and teaching staff with additional time for relaxation and recreation. Despite the extended vacation, the impact on the academic calendar is expected to be minimal, ensuring a balance between student well-being and educational continuity.

This decision aligns with the DSEJ’s commitment to prioritizing the health and safety of the educational community. Meanwhile, schools in the winter zone of Kashmir division have already resumed activities on January 1, and educational institutions in the cold desert areas of Ladakh also reopened on the same day after a break of over two months. The varied responses reflect regional considerations and climatic diversity in educational operations.
