LG Sinha advocates participation of Ex-soldiers in fight against terrorism, says 2.2 Cr Tourists visited J&K in 2023

Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, emphasized the crucial involvement of retired soldiers, officers, and policemen in the ongoing battle against terrorism. Despite terrorism being on the decline, he highlighted the adversary’s persistent efforts to reignite it in J&K.
During an event in Jammu, where he engaged with veterans, veer Naris, and NoKs of slain soldiers, LG Sinha announced that the J&K administration would allocate land in both Kashmir and Jammu for the establishment of Sainik Colonies, aimed at accommodating families of fallen heroes.
Sharing statistics on tourism, LG Sinha revealed that a remarkable 4 Crore tourists visited the UT over the past two years. In 2022, 1.88 Crore tourists explored J&K, and in 2023, the number increased to 2.12 Crore. Despite the prevailing peaceful atmosphere, Sinha cautioned about the adversary’s attempts to disrupt the peace by instigating terrorism.
In a recent security review meeting, LG Sinha advocated for the inclusion of ex-servicemen, including officers, soldiers, and policemen, in the decisive fight against terrorism. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the current Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia for the families of fallen soldiers, pledging to ensure an increase in the amount this year.
Looking ahead, the J&K administration, under LG Sinha’s direction, plans to provide land for the construction of Sainik Colonies in both Kashmir and Jammu during the current year. This initiative aims to offer support and accommodation to the families and NoKs of fallen heroes, acknowledging their sacrifices.
