76 Terrorists, Including 55 Foreigners, Neutralized in 2023: DGP R.R Swain

- Security Success in J&K: The Director General of Police, R R Swain, reported a significant victory in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the neutralization of 76 terrorists in 2023, including 55 foreigners. This marks a crucial step in enhancing security in the region.
- Local Terrorist Numbers Hit All-Time Low: Swain emphasized a notable achievement as the number of remaining local terrorists hit an all-time low at 31 in the Union Territory. This decline underscores successful efforts in curbing local recruitment and insurgency.
- Decline in Terror Incidents: The year saw a 63% reduction in terror-related incidents compared to the previous year. This positive trend extends to various aspects, including diminished recruitment, fewer strike calls, and a decline in instances of stone-pelting.
- Civilian Casualties and Security Personnel Loss: Despite progress, 14 civilians lost their lives to terrorist activities in 2023. Tragically, four police personnel, including a DSP and an inspector, also sacrificed their lives in the line of duty during terror attacks.
- Comprehensive Security Measures: Swain outlined the comprehensive measures taken by security forces, including the dismantling of 89 terrorist modules, uncovering 18 hideouts, freezing 68 bank accounts, and attaching properties worth over Rs 170 crore. Additionally, actions against over 8,000 fake social media accounts promoting separatism and terrorism demonstrate a multifaceted approach to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
