- The most powerful quake, measuring 5.1 in magnitude, struck Padam in Kargil at a depth of 6.2 miles on December 18.
- The smallest, a 1.9 magnitude earthquake, hit Katra in Jammu and Kashmir at 11:28 am on Tuesday.
- No casualties or property damage have been reported across the region.
Back-to-Back Quakes:
- On the preceding day, four consecutive earthquakes rattled the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in less than an hour.
- The National Centre for Seismology reported these earthquakes affecting Kargil in Ladakh and the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Regional Focus:
- The seismic activities have been concentrated in the lower Himalayan region, with exceptions like a 3.6 magnitude earthquake in the Nicobar Island region on Tuesday.
Ladakh:
- Kargil in Ladakh experienced significant seismic activity, including the strongest quake measuring 5.1 in magnitude.
