Kashmiri Man pretends as ‘PMO Official & Army Doctor’ in Orissa. Fakes Medical Degrees, Faces Arrest

Bhubaneswar, December 16: The Odisha Police Crime Branch’s Special Task Force (STF) apprehended a Kashmiri individual in the Neulpur area of Jajpur district on charges of impersonating an official from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and an Army doctor. The accused, identified as Sayed Ishaan Bukhari, 37, hailing from Handwara in north Kashmir, faces allegations of impersonation, cheating, forgery, and connections with anti-national elements.
The STF, acting on credible information, conducted a raid in the Neulpur area, seizing incriminating materials, over 100 documents, and four cell phones. The accused, who also posed as a neuro-specialist doctor and a close associate of high-ranking officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), is suspected of having links with suspicious individuals in Kerala and Pakistan.
During the raid, numerous forged documents, including a medical degree certificate from Cornell University in the USA, Canadian Health Services Institute, and Vellore Christian Medical College, were discovered. Additionally, signed blank documents, affidavits, bonds, identity cards, ATM cards, blank cheques, Aadhaar cards, and visiting cards were seized.
The accused, who reportedly married multiple women from different parts of India, is believed to have engaged in deceptive online relationships by posing as a doctor with international qualifications. Inspector General J N Pankaj of the Crime Branch stated that the accused is wanted by Kashmir Police in a case of cheating and forgery, with a pending non-bailable warrant.
Further investigations are underway, and the STF plans to seek remand for additional interrogation. Police forces in Punjab, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, as well as national agencies like the Intelligence Bureau and NIA, are likely to join the inquiry into the accused’s activities.
