A biting cold wave has enveloped Kashmir, evident in the recent temperature drop across various regions.
On December 13, Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, experienced its coldest night of the season, plummeting to a bone-chilling minus 5.3 degrees Celsius. This frigid condition is not confined to Srinagar alone; all stations in the area have reported sub-zero temperatures, indicating the intensity of the cold spell.
Qazigund, known as the gateway to Kashmir, witnessed its own freezing night with the mercury dipping to minus 3.2 degrees Celsius.
Moving to the popular ski-resort, Gulmarg, temperatures reached a shivering minus 5.5 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Pahalgam, a sought-after tourist destination, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.3 degrees, further illustrating the widespread impact of the cold wave.
In Kupwara, the cold persisted, with the mercury settling at a chilly minus 3.7 degrees Celsius. Kokernag experienced its own share of the cold spell, registering a minimum temperature of minus 2.1 degrees Celsius. These harsh weather conditions mark the onset of winter in Kashmir, affecting daily life and emphasizing the need for residents to brace themselves for the challenging temperatures ahead.
