Eidgah Srinagar Mourns as Dead body of Fallen Hero, Inspector Masroor Wani, Returns Home
In Srinagar on December 8, the heart-wrenching words, “I have fixed a cricket match on Sunday and have made all the arrangements, you just have to come and play with me,” marked the last conversation with Police Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani, revealed a tearful friend to Wattan Daily Urdu Newspaper.
Eidgah Srinagar witnessed a somber scene as the lifeless body of the courageous cop, slain by terrorists, returned home. Amidst sorrow and cries, his body was first brought to District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony attended by senior officers paying homage to the martyr.
With family members present, grief permeated the atmosphere. Masroor fell victim to a terrorist attack while playing cricket on October 29 at Eidgah playground, succumbing to injuries in AIIMS Delhi on Thursday.
As the martyred police inspector’s body reached home, an atmosphere of mourning enveloped the area. Friends, colleagues, and community members bid a tearful farewell to the beloved patriot, expressing shared pain through uncontrollable tears.
Masroor’s recent posting was as the Station House Officer (SHO) at Chanapora, and his friend Iqbal, deeply affected, described him as a gentle and down-to-earth man. The funeral, attended by hundreds, including senior police officers and administrators, unfolded in Eidgah amid tears and sobs, casting a pall of gloom in the entire area.
