Prosecuting Officer Dismissed from Services

A prosecuting officer in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, has been dismissed by the government after allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from an accused involved in a murder case. The accused sought to avoid being charged in the case, and the officer, Aijaz-Ul-Hassan, was serving as the Senior Prosecuting Officer in the court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Thanamandi at the time.

The dismissal comes as a result of a violation of ethical conduct outlined in the J&K Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971. The government’s order, obtained by Wattan Daily, highlighted Aijaz-Ul-Hassan’s failure to uphold absolute integrity and cited his actions as unbecoming of a government employee.

The order specifically pointed out that the officer’s acceptance of a bribe contradicted Rule 3 of J&K Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971. In accordance with Rule 30(viii) of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1956, Aijaz-Ul-Hassan has been promptly dismissed from service. This dismissal not only severs his current employment but also disqualifies him from seeking future employment.

This incident underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its employees and upholding the principles of fairness and justice in legal proceedings.
