Army Reports Gunfight in Kupwara, One Militant Killed

The Indian Army reported a gunfight in the Trimukha top, Lolab area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday.

The encounter began on July 23, 2024, and continued into the early hours of July 24, 2024.

According to the Chinar Corps of the army, the operation was launched based on specific input regarding the presence of terrorists in the general area of Kowut, Kupwara.

A joint search operation was conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the days leading up to July 23, 2024.

On July 24, 2024, suspicious movement was observed, and the troops challenged the individuals, leading to indiscriminate firing by the terrorists.

In the ensuing firefight, one terrorist was eliminated, and a non-commissioned officer (NCO) was injured.

A top police officer confirmed that the gunfight resumed on the morning of July 24, 2024, after being suspended for the night.

The operation is still underway, and the body of the killed militant has not been retrieved yet, according to the police officer.
