OGW Arrested in Connection With Attack on Non-Local in JK’s Shopian

In Srinagar, police announced the arrest of an over-ground worker (OGW) linked to militants responsible for the recent attack on a non-local driver in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred last month and has since seen significant progress in the investigation, according to a police official.

The breakthrough came with the apprehension of the OGW at Chotipora area in the south Kashmir district. During the arrest, security forces recovered six AK-47 rounds and two cell phones. The ongoing investigation suggests that more arrests are anticipated in connection with the case.

The victim of the attack was identified as Dilranjeet Singh, a taxi driver from Uttarakhand. He sustained injuries after being shot at by militants, prompting intensified efforts by security forces to apprehend those responsible. The attack occurred at Danish Resorts in Padpawan, marking a concerning escalation of violence in the region.

The arrest of the OGW marks a significant milestone in the investigation, providing crucial leads for law enforcement agencies to pursue. However, the case remains active, with authorities continuing their efforts to unravel the full extent of the perpetrators’ network.

The incident underscores the persistent security challenges faced in the region, particularly in areas with a significant presence of militants and their support networks. The targeted attack on a non-local individual also highlights the vulnerability of civilians amidst the ongoing conflict.

Efforts to maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir remain a priority for both local authorities and the central government. The arrest serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts of security forces in combating insurgency and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors alike.
