MeT Predicts Snowfall in Kashmir as Srinagar Records -4.9⁰C
Srinagar, Jan 19 (WD):
The Meteorological Department forecasts changes in Jammu and Kashmir’s weather, predicting light snow on higher reaches on January 25 and light rain/snow on scattered places from January 26-28. Dry weather is expected until January 24, with cloudy conditions on the evening of the 20th.
Srinagar experienced a drop in temperature to minus 4.9°C, and other areas like Qazigund, Pahalgam, and Kokernag saw variations in minimum temperatures. There’s a possibility of rain/snow from January 29-31, according to different models.
The department also anticipates the redevelopment of moderate to dense fog and a decrease in day temperatures over Jammu Division in the next three days.
Kashmir valley is currently in the ‘Chillai-Kalan’ period of winter, lasting 40 days until January 29. However, winter persists with subsequent phases, including ‘Chillai-Khurd’ and ‘Chillai-Bachha.’
